A prayer wheel is a Buddhist ritual object consisting of a cylinder (mill) filled with mantras (prayers) and freely rotating around an axis on which the mantra is coiled. Each turn of the mill is considered a recitation of the mantra.
The prayer wheel turns clockwise, which is the direction of reading the mantra. After one rotation, the power of mantras activates and grants protection and merit (Punya). Symbolically, spinning a prayer wheel means "spinning the wheel of Dharma", which describes how Buddha taught.
Completely handcrafted, this prayer wheel is made of copper and sandalwood from Tibet.
