Buddha Avalokiteshvara is Tibet's most popular deity. His Tibetan name is Chenrezig, which means "one who looks with compassion". Indeed, Avalokiteshvara, also called Guanyin in China, is considered by many Buddhists to be the ultimate embodiment of compassion within all Buddhas.
